About

Since 2000, Toy Truck has provided holiday cheer to thousands of children served by Porter-Leath during the holiday season. These gifts provide each child with something that's fun for them, but also that shows that our community cares. Donations at Toy Truck fall into two categories, monetary gifts and toys. All donations stay in the Memphis area and are given to local children connected to Porter-Leath services.

Monetary gifts are matched by our Secret Santa and used to provide gifts for children where we may be short on toy collections, or if there's a special need. Monetary gifts are not limited to cash; checks and credit card donations are also accepted as well as matched dollar for dollar. Monetary gifts are a fantastic way to give and extremely helpful as they allow Porter-Leath flexibility in meeting the need. Most donors find it to be the easiest option as no shopping is required.

For those wanting to give a bike to a child, but don't have time to assemble one or lug it around town, gifts of $68 increments are designated for bikes - and they're matched! On average, over $50,000 is collected during Toy Truck, which is then matched by our Secret Santa, and used to provide gifts for children in Porter-Leath early childhood education sites as well as clients in other Porter-Leath programs, including our Foster Grandparents and our children in Connections. To give now, visit our Ways to Give page.

Toy and bicycle donations fill the 20' Toy Truck each and every year. Donated toys should be new and unwrapped, and we ask that no toy weapons, games with dice or play money, or stuffed animals are donated. Items with small parts, like Hot Wheels, should also be avoided since so many of the children receiving gifts are under age 5. For more toy suggestions, visit our Toy Ideas page. Bicycle donations have been a signature part of Toy Truck since the beginning, with bikes going to children with exemplary and extraordinary performance in our Preschool program.
