Junior League of Memphis Shares What They Love about Memphis with Porter-Leath Preschoolers

The Junior League of Memphis recently partnered with Porter-Leath to promote and increase literacy skills in Porter-Leath Preschools throughout the Mid-South.  Several Junior League members each visited all of Porter-Leath’s Preschools to read We Live in Memphis! , give each child a copy of the book, and lead a fun activity to highlight each child’s four favorite things about Memphis. Each One Reach One

Generations is starting a new Each One Reach One lunch and learn series this spring.  Funded by the HW Durham Foundation, the goal of the program is to maximize new senior contacts as well as increase the number of seniors ready to be enrolled in the Foster Grandparent Program.  Each luncheon will feature a speaker presenting topics related to senior health, safety and well-being, followed by a fun activity such as bingo, board and card games or hobbies.  Participants will also... Porter-Leath's Foster Grandparents Constant and Juanita Reynolds were nominated for the Wharton Award from the Memphis CARES Mentoring Movement while Porter-Leath teacher Denise Robinson was recently nominated for the Ujima Award. Denise served as an AmeriCorps member with Porter-Leath before continuing on her career path to become a Porter-Leath teacher. Expecting women have free resources to ensure their babies are born at a healthy birth weight!

Meet three healthy, happy sisters: K'liyah, 3 years old, Destiny, 23-months old, and 11-month old Shanell. When K'liyah and Destiny were born, they both were well below the normal healthy birth weight guideline of 5.5 lbs, weighing in at just 3.13 lbs and 4.3 lbs respectively.
